Storm Breaking, Mercedes Lackey

Storm Breaking is the concluding book in Lackey's Mage Storms trilogy, part of the Heralds of Valdemar series. I'm usually satisfied with Lackey's books, although some of her recent novels have been disappointing. I'm happy to say that I had no real complaints about this one.

This book has a good, reasonably interesting plot. One of the pluses of Storm Breaking was the setting: most of the action does not take place in Valdemar, thus the reader gets to see more of Lackey's created world than ever before. Another item to interest the Heralds fan is the look inside Iftel, the most secretive of Valdemar's neighbors.

There really isn't anything wrong with this book. It's a typical Lackey novel, which might be a con for some. Sure, her books are "mind candy", but sometimes we need the empty calories.
